July 29, 2013 Raw Review

Raw would start with Vince McMahon and Brad Maddox coming to the ring. Brad would apologize for his "bone-headed" decision to allow Cena to choose his opponent for SummerSlam. Daniel Bryan would come down to the ring. Vince would say that Bryan couldn't beat Cena and he said that Cena had been lying to Bryan. He would also say that he didn't want Cena or Bryan to be WWE champion after SummerSlam. Bryan would say that it didn't matter what Vince thought, it mattered what the fans thought. Bryan asked the fans if they wanted a new WWE champion and the crowd started chanting "Yes". Daniel Bryan would leave. This was a good segment and made it seem that at SummerSlam Orton will cash in the briefcase and become WWE champion.
The Shield would come out and the first match of the night was the Shield vs Mark Henry and the Usos. Dean Ambrose would hit one of the Usos with his finisher and pick up the win. After the match Mark Henry would attack the Shield. This was a good match but not as good as most of the Shields other matches. It seems that the Shield and Henry feud will continue to SummerSlam.
Fandango vs Rob Van Dam was next. This match didn't last too long. Fandango would leave the match and RVD would pick up the win. I think this match could have been very good if it was longer.
Next up would be AJ vs Kaitlyn. Kaitlyn was able to win after hitting AJ with a spear. This was a good match. After the match Dolph Ziggler would come out and challenge Big E to a match.
Big E would accept. Big dominated most of the match. During the match he yelled at Dolph Ziggler "Your time is up" and "it's my time now". At the end Big E would fall out of the ring and AJ would attack Dolph. Dolph was able to escape. Big E would come back into the ring and start yelling at AJ and then Ziggler would hit Big E with a Zigzag. This was an ok match. Big E dominated most of it.
Up next was Alberto Del Rio vs Christian. Alberto Del Rio would go for the cross-arm breaker but Christian countered it into a pin and he was able to get the win. This was a good match.
The next match was Cody Rhodes vs Wade Barrett. Cody Rhodes would hit the Cross Rhodes and get the win. After the match Damien Sandow would come out and say that he came his dad was a scholar and Codys dad was a clown. He would also say that Cody was below him.
Up next was Kane vs Daniel Bryan. Kane would go for a chokeslam but Daniel Bryan would counter it into a roll up and get the win. After the match Kane would hit Bryan with a chokeslam. Then the Wyatt family would come out. When the lights came back on Kane went straight for Bray Wyatt but the other two would save Bray Wyatt. Bray Wyatt would hit his finisher on Kane and then cut a promo where he said Kane is no demon. The match was good and the segment after did a good job continuing the Wyatt family and Kanes feud.
The next match was Brie Bella vs Natalya. It was nice to see more than one diva match in one night. Before the match their was a backstage segment where the Bellas called Natalya an ugly duckling. Nikkei Bella would come out with a kazoo and distract Natalya letting Brie win with a roll up pin.
The next match was Curtis Axel vs R-Truth. Axel would hit his finisher on Truth but CM Punk would come out and attack Axel. He would then turn his attention to Paul Heyman but Axel would attack Punk allowing Heyman to escape. The match wasn't very good but the segment did a good job advancing the Punk and Brock feud.
The main event was Ryback vs John Cena in a tables match. At first I wasn't excited for the match but it was actually pretty good. John Cena hit Ryback with an AA through a table to win the match. Daniel Bryan would come out and take the WWE championship. He would then go into the ring and when Cena was about to grab it he pulled it away. Then Cena would snatch it.
This was a good edition of Raw and did a good job promoting the matches for SummerSlam.
