2013 Payback Review

On the Payback Kick-off Sheamus was able to defeat Damien Sandow. I wasn't able to see the match so I don't know if it was good.

The first match of the actual PPV was Wade Barrett vs The Miz vs Curtis Axel for the intercontinental championship. This was a good match and as I predicted Curtis Axel was able to win and become the new Intercontinental champion. The ending of this match was pretty cool. While Miz had Barrett in the figure four leg lock Axel came into the ring and pinned Barrett while Miz still had the figure four locked in.

Next up was Kaitlyn vs AJ for the Divas championship. This was a good match and got a good amount of time unlike most of the divas matches. I predicted AJ would win and that is what happened. Kaitlyn was able to spear Kaitlyn but she got overconfident and blew a kiss to AJ before going for the pin so AJ was able to recover and kick out. AJ would lock in the black widow and make Kaitlyn tap out.

The next match would be Kane vs Dean Ambrose for the United States championship. This match got a good amount of time and Kane and Ambrose were able to put on a good match. I wish Ambrose was able to get the pin victory on Kane since Kane losing cleanly wouldn't affect him but instead Ambrose got a count-out victory.

Next up would be the World Heavyweight Championship match between Dolph Ziggler and Alberto Del Rio. This match was one-sided. Alberto took advantage of Dolph Zigglers concussion and attacked his head throughout the match. The ending of this match surprised me. Alberto Del Rio was able to pick up the victory and become the new World Heavyweight Championship. It also seems that Del Rio is turning heel.

The next match would be Chris Jericho vs CM Punk. I was surprised that CM Punk returned. CM Punk returned to a huge pop from the crowd. This was an amazing match. CM Punk was able to pick up the win. I also really liked how this match ended. Punk hit the GTS, Jericho would bounce off the corner and CM Punk would hit another GTS to finish the match.

Next would be Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns vs Team RK-No. This was a good match. During the match Daniel Bryan would dive out of the ring and accidentally hit Randy Orton. However this didn't lead to a fight between the two. Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns were able to pick up the victory after Reigns hit the spear on Bryan then Rollins hit his finisher on Bryan and Rollins got the pin.

Then would come the final match of the night. John Cena vs Ryback for the WWE championship in a three stages of hell match. I predicted the match correctly. Ryback won the lumberjack match by hitting Cena with a shellshock.

The second stage was a tables match which Cena was able to win by putting Ryback through a table with an Attitude Adjustment.

The final match was an ambulance match. Before the match started Ryback attacked Cena and put him the announcers table (not the Spanish announce table, Ryback was probably confused). Cena and Ryback destroyed the ambulance. Cena was able to AA Ryback through the roof of the ambulance to win the match and retain his title.

This was a very good Pay Per View. The matches were good and the crowd was amazing. Chicago always has an amazing crowd. The matches were pretty predictable but were still good. The most surprising thing was Alberto winning the world heavyweight championship. They also showed a promo hyping the return of.......... RVD, Rob Van Dam. RVD will be returning at Money In The Bank and I can't wait. I hope he is in the money in the bank match and wins.
